Lightweight Crib Blankets

Lightweight crib blankets and receiving blankets are very easy and inexpensive to make and make perfect gifts for the mother to be!

Go to any department store and look in the bedding department for the knit sheets.  You'll find the lightweight cotton knit sheets in a variety of colors, as well as many printed designs.

For the lightweight crib blankets, purchase a full bed size knit sheet and simply cut the sheet into fourths, so you'll have four crib size sheets.  To complete the edges I'd recommend the "fold over elastic" as it is easy to use.  Or if you're handy with the crochet hook, you could crochet a pretty edge all around.

If you're making receiving blankets, you would cut the full bed size sheet into eight receiving blankets.  If you know there are babies "on the way", make a special effort to check out the January or mid season "white sales", and get an even better deal on the sheets!

This free class is an excerpt from the book "Nursery Room Projects", which is available at the "baby" site http://NurseryRoomProjects.com  This site is filled with information for the mother to be, and for those who already have a small child in the home.
